In short: Run the granular grade on the same compounding line and settings as the powder, watching feeder stability, screen-pack pressure and dust at the hopper, then confirm that the film made from the granular masterbatch is free of specks. Sensilchem starts with CENSIL 165GR and uses 185GR when the masterbatch needs more functional loading from the same feeding behaviour.
Run the current powder masterbatch for long enough to log feeder output, screen-pack pressure and dust. Without a baseline the granular result cannot be read.
Change only the silica form. Keep loading, carrier resin, screw speed and temperatures where they were, and recalibrate the feeder for the new bulk density before starting.
A granular grade should give a flatter feed-rate trace with fewer bridging events. Log the trace for at least an hour so that short-term stability and drift are both visible.
Pressure climbing through the run means agglomerates are being caught. Compare the slope of the pressure curve against the powder baseline, not just the starting value.
Hold a white card at the hopper and look at the floor. Dust is a health and cleaning cost that the powder run hides in the baseline, and it is often the reason the switch pays for itself.
Let the granular masterbatch down into film and run it through the inspection station. Feeding advantages only count if the film downstream is at least as clean as before.
It is the same chemistry in a granular form; the change is in handling, not in what the silica does in the film. Downstream properties are confirmed by the speck check and the film tests.
